Kyle Pelletier Wins Inaugural Fore-U Golf Center Min-Golf Tournament
The first annual Fore-U Golf Center Mini-Golf Tournament concluded in spectacular fashion with ten year old Kyle Pelletier of Lebanon beating twenty-five year old Mitch Cable of Hartford on the 6th playoff hole with a hole-in-one.
Over forty golfers entered the four week qualifying event with the top thirteen reaching Saturday’s final. Josh Bennett, from Lebanon, was the low qualifier with a seventeen under par score of 36 on the par 53 Alpine Adventure Course.
The 36-Hole final was a stroke play event played on both the Alpine Adventure and River Run mini-golf courses. Overcast conditions led to some speedy play as friends and families watched and rooted as a crowd of well over forty were in attendance. At the half-way mark participants enjoyed burgers, sausages and other complimentary foods provided by Fore-U and tournament sponsor Jasmin Auto.
Play began on the River Run Course with Kyle Pelletier and Peter Vanderplot shooting 9 under par scores of 39 to tie for the lead after the first round. Aaron Warner, Mitch Cable, Mathew Sullivan, and Tom Pelletier were close behind the leaders entering the final round with 8 under par scores of 40.
The final 18 holes were played on the more challenging Alpine Adventure. Excitement grew as Mitch Cable eagled the 17th hole with a score of 2 to tie Pelletier heading into 18. Both players made par on 18 to force a playoff.
Pelletier and Cable were both tied after the 3-hole playoff on Holes 16, 17, and 18 of Alpine Adventure with Cable sinking a clutch 5 footer on the last hole. The second playoff on Alpine Adventure hole’s 1, 2, and 3 is where the young Pelletier pulled away with a birdie on Hole 2 and hole-in-one on Hole 3.
The champion, Kyle Pelletier, won his choice of a 2012 Golf Membership from one of ten area golf courses that included Bellow Falls, Carter, Claremont, Crown Point, Eastman, Hanover, Lake Morey, Montague, Newport, and Windsor.
